Clairol Beautiful Collection moisturizing color semi-permanent color is *temporary* hair color. This means that it doesn’t stay forever but fades gradually. If you want to test a hair color you’re not sure will be right for you, Clairol semi-permanent color might be exactly what you want. Also, temporary hair color does not cover hair darker than itself. What I mean is that if your natural hair is brown with no gray, if you apply shade B01B, Light Natural Blond, (my favorite shade), for example, you will not get any change. So don’t do that. It would waste your time and money. On the other hand, this means it’s much gentler than any permanent *lightening* hair color that I’ve ever used.(My experience is that darker shades of permanent hair color are gentler than lighter shades of permanent hair color, and that this product is even gentler than darker shades of permanent hair color.)So why use it?If you want to cover gray without making your whole head of hair a permanent monochromatic shade that flashes “fake color,” this stuff is magic! My natural shade is a dark, drab ash blond. I.e. Nothing to write home about. I’m about 25% gray (maybe a little less), with graying temples, so it’s really obvious. When I color with my B01N, Light Natural Blond, my dark, dull blond stays the same, but all the places where there was gray hair look like I have amazing blond highlights instead of gray. My hair is soft and fine, and this stuff doesn’t damage it at all. Also, as the color grows out, it fades so the gray roots don’t stand out like a sore thumb.I’m so happy to be able to cover my gray hair with something gentle that won’t damage my hair and still looks good while it is growing out.
